In the event that you are running a very soft, wet, greasy race track and its an open tire rule Vega MCS or yellow letter tires are a necessity to make bite when the compound range dips under 40.
We have found system that works very well in these conditions and we will outline below the steps to produce a race winning tire for the above conditions.
>Surface Preparation-
Buff the tire to a 220 or finer finish without getting the tire overly hot where it seals the rubber off. This will allow the prep to outside prep to work to its full potential
>Inside-
We advise taking the Original lnside and the Wet Track Outside and mixing it 50/50% and roll 120cc in the rights and 90cc in he left sides. Roll them the normal allotted time for the inside to pull through. The expected durometer when finished will be 42-44
>Outside-
Use the Wet Track foe the outside and wipe until the desired durometer is reached. The one thing that you will notice the very first time you do this prior to running them is they will get sticky and at some point start repelling the prep. This is normal and once you run them one time they will take prep much better after that.
>Trackside-
You can use Green to fire the tires and go to the grid wet, or you can use the Wet Track or Gold if further softening is needed. One trick that we have learned specifically with all tires used in a wet track condition is to clean them with gas. Get all the loose dirt off of the tire and then clean them with gas, being that it is a petroleum based product the tires seem to react more positively when it come to prepping at the track.
>Maintenance-
Wipe the tires as needed to keep bite in the tires and a consistent durometer with the Wet Track. If the tires have become overly saturated and seem to be making to much bite they can be left outside in the sun to tire and pull some of the prep out. A good rule of thumb is to have multiple sets and keep them in rotation so the same tire does not have to be used each week so they can be allowed to rebound in the off weeks.
